The Ongoing conflict in Sudan, and repeated displacement in Al-Abasyia locality, South Kordofan, has severely
weakened household livelihoods and social stability. Women, who constitute the majority of the displaced population,
have increasingly assumed responsibility for sustaining their families economically and socially, yet their roles remain
under-recognized and inadequately supported. This study examines how displaced women contribute to household
resilience during conflict and the barriers they face, using a mixed-method approach. Socially, women provide emotional
care, maintain family cohesion, support children’s learning and well-being, and mediate family and community conflicts.
Despite these significant contributions, women face major challenges, including financial constraints, limited access to
training and livelihood resources, psychological stress, and cultural restrictions. The study underscores the need for
gender-responsive interventions to strengthen household resilience in conflict-affected communities.
