CEDEJ Khartoum Fellows (Field grants) 2022

In April 2022, CEDEJ Khartoum launched its Call for applications for Field Grants.
We received 8 applications from students from different institutions, nationalities and fields of research. The scientific committee for the selection was composed by Salma Mohamed Abdalmunim Abdalla (Postdoc at the Department of International Environment and Development Studies – Noragric), Mehdi Labzae (Resident Researcher, CEDEJ Cairo) and Luisa Arango (coordinator of the CEDEJ Khartoum).

Five Master and Phd candidates have been granted within this program:

  • Abdaljbar Alhaj Mustafa Mohamed (PhD Candidate in Anthropology, University of Khartoum, University of Paris 8)

    Colonial and postcolonial politics of religion and ethnicity.  Historical anthropology of Eastern Sudan’s marginalization
  • Salma Dawelbait Hamid Nafi (PhD Candidate in Ethno-archoology, Al Nileen University)

    Zîrs production, selling and consumption in the Khartoum state
  • Haydar Mohamed Ali Hassan (Assistant Profesor University of Khartoum)

    Exploring the Socioeconomic and Environmental Impacts of the Red Brick Industry: a study in Kasambar Village, Gezira State, Sudan
  • Tanzil Adam (Master Student in Public Health, University of Khartoum)

    COVID-19 vaccination uptake, hesitancy and associated factors among females in Abu Shouk IDPs former camp- El Fashir, North Darfur
  • Mariasole Pepa, Postdoc researcher, Department of History, Geography and of the Ancient World (DISSGeA,University of Padua, Italy)

    Contested wetlands in Sahelian drylands: which kind of development and for whom ?
