CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 2024/2025 RESEARCH GRANTS – CEDEJ KHARTOUM
Deadline to submit the proposal: August 30th 2024
The French Centre for Economic, Law and Social Studies in Sudan (CEDEJ Khartoum), whose activities are temporarily coordinated from Cairo, is launching a call for Research grants for graduate students (PhD and Master students) and researchers who conduct research in the social sciences and humanities on Sudan and Sudanese diaspora.
These grants are awarded to researchers who are based in Sudan or in Egypt or planning to do empirical field/research stay in Egypt. Applicants who currently do not have a scholarship with CEDEJ Khartoum will be given priority.
What is expected from the grantee?
– By the end of January 2025: Blog piece from 1000 to 1500 words
– Between February 2025 and April 2025: Presentation at CEDEJ Khartoum of the general framing, and findings of the research.
Grant Information
The amount of the grant is set at 800 euros . The grant beneficiary will receive 50% of the grant upon signing the grant contract. He will receive the remaining payment when the final report is submitted to the CEDEJ Khartoum coordinator – Marie BASSI – and after validation by the scientific committee.
Grantees will become Associated researchers at CEDEJ Khartoum until the end of 2026.
Grants offered are not subject to taxes, and do not include open rights to social security. They are awarded as contributions towards actual research costs.
How to apply? (before 30th of August)
We encourage submission and publication in English, but it is possible to submit a proposal in French.
Interested applicants will send an email to direction@cedejkhartoum.com and taysirelhadi@hotmail.com with the following documents:
– a complete CV (1 page maximum)
– a research proposal (1 page maximum) indicating the main research question, the context, the methodology.
The application will be examined by a selection committee in September/October 2025, which will consider scientific interest, relevance of the project, the applicant’s ability to implement it.
